About Displaced Christian Men

Hi this is Dave Vega and Jim Parks (Displaced Christian Men Authors.)

What are Christian Men to do?  It seems we have been shuttled around from place to place in the church.  In some places we can be leaders, then our society dictates that we should be passive.

There are too many messages about how I am supposed to behave.  The Displaced Christian Men blog is a place where the confusion is discussed and clarity can ring true.

Here is what we are about:  Passionate about Christ and the Role that God has for Men.  One exciting aspect of what God has in store is a a passionate and fulfilling life.  The mission for this blog is to invite men to participate and share their story about their walk.

What can that be about?
  • Successes
  • Struggles
  • Victories
  • Change as a result of God's intervention
So, here is my story (Jim): Several years ago I worked with a large Christian Men's Ministry.  If you were involved at all with Promise Keepers you know how significant this period of time was.  Men who attended these events had life changing moments.  I knew at that time that what I was doing was ABSOLUTELY what I had been created to do.

I left PK after 8 years and there began my struggle:  cycles of employment and unemployment;  lead to what I now know as some "Serious Depression."  The worst part was being at home all the time and not getting anything done.  I've come to realize that "Isolation for Men  -- from Men" is a fertile field for all kinds of junk.  During this period of time I slowly swirled down a funnel from self-esteem to feeling like "this just is not worth it."

In 2009 I began a course of study (online education) that has re-ignited my passion to be with people and be able to share my plunge with others so that they won't go there.  Helping  those who want change and are willing to do the work has always been my calling.

I realize that God was always there.  I even knew at the time.  Today, I know that what I went through was for a far greater purpose than I could ever imagine.

I encourage you to stick with Dave and me as we blog about life and the role men play in both the good and bad aspects.
