CHURCH -- FOR ME?

Men and Church

How can I feel comfortable in a church that asks me to:

o Express my love to another man (Jesus)?

o Hold hands to exhibit unity?

o Become someone I’m not (meek and mild)?

The church of Jesus Christ was established by men who were by all accounts, men of the world. Fishermen, political radicals, government employees, men who I’m sure didn’t hold hands every time they prayed.

So why have we attempted to convert the modern day man into a church wimp?

Have we become so focused on doing the “right” thing that we have tried to re-make ourselves into what we accept as perfect men in the eyes of God?

We have un-mistakenly taken God’s idea (men) and made it into something I wonder if even He would recognize.

Not all men are boisterous and outgoing, some are in fact quiet and reserved, but do they make better followers of Christ than the out-going “man’s man?”

How can I resolve my dilemma and feel comfortable in the confines of a church that expects me to act a certain way, but an act that goes against my very core?

My desire is to serve my Heavenly Father and I’m grateful for the sacrifice that Jesus was willing to make on my behalf. But if I truly believe that I am a creation of God, then His creation was a unique one and I am the way I am because of that creative plan. So why now does the church want me to become something else?

Am I a misfit or does anyone else feel like this???
