In 1963 Theologian Rachel Henderlite said:
· Having a relationship with God is about responding to the creator of your life,
· Having fellowship with the creator,
· and fulfilling the grandeur of man.
She further stated: “In fellowship with God man is brought to his fullest development. The grandeur of man is that he is created in the image of God, for fellowship with God. As such he is endowed with the capacity for communicating with God, and is of such a nature that he does not fulfill his destiny unless he is in communion with God. It is man’s essential nature to live with God and with his fellow man.”
This is an unbelievable statement: That, when man is “In fellowship with God, he is brought to his fullest development” and when man is in fellowship with God “…he is endowed with the capacity for communicating with God…” See John 17 Christ priestly prayer…
She further states:
“…That when living in fellowship with God, man is himself. Then man can live freely and joyously”. When we are not in communion with God our life is full of confusion and chaos.” (e.g. broken homes, addictions, sexual sins, inability to know what to do next, living a purposeless life)
CS Lewis said: “The more we let God take us over, the more truly ourselves we become – because he made us. He invented all the different people that you and I were intended to be…It is when I turn to Christ, when I give up myself to His personality, that I first began to have a real personality of my own.” Rick Warren Purpose Driven Church. pg 80.
We were created to have fellowship with God; we were created in His image. And because God created us this way we have the opportunity to enter into fellowship with him. We read in 1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Man’s purpose is to glorify God and enjoy him.
Conclusion: My passion is gone because I have avoided developing a relationship with the creator of the Universe…
And Here is what I am GOING to DO:
· Get in Fellowship with God by spending time in the Word
· Get In Fellowship with God by developing relationships with other ACTIVE Christian brothers
· Get in Fellowship with God by Rejecting passivity
· Get in Fellowship with God by “…letting God take me over” so that I can truly be myself. My Identity is in Christ Not in some made up idea.
